This person (s) will direct early morning arrivals. They will have a map; know layout of clam-bake area, and direct all arrivals to their proper location, proper person. Logistics

Details

May involve heavy lifting. Involves some work prior to Walk/Run day including:
Hang banner at Old Greenwich train station. 4 weeks prior to Walk/Run
Friday before event 10/14:
Pick-up of balloons, helium tanks - store at Abilis
Create plan to load van, based on what is needed first
Load vans; Signs, banners, t-shirts, runner packets, water, food, gift shop items,
Morning of bring to set-up area:
Empty Van -signs first (signs for walking, parking, walk route, run)
Hang banners for start / finish line.
Boxes of t-shirts to Volunteer table and T-shirt table
Move gift shop items to tent, pack up van; leftover gifts from tent, signs, banners

Set-up/Signs for Arrival & Parking

Details

Work with Logistics to obtain signs, balloons and set-up equipment. Place 15 Abilis/direction signs/ parking signs and balloons from the entrance of the park, all the way to the parking areas. General parking signs, Accessible parking signs. Once signs are placed 1-2 volunteers will stand at clam-bake entrance, greet folks, and guide them to appropriate check-in. Answer general Walk/Run questions.



Set-up / Tables - Balloons

Details

Work with logistics to obtain signs, balloons, helium tanks and set-up equipment. Some heavy lifting may be required. Set-up tables / Chairs /Signs in Clam-bake main area.
1 run registration table, 2 walk registration tables, volunteer table, 3 t-shirt tables, Also place signs in front of Tents; Gift Shop, Children's Activities, Food. Blow up 200 balloons. May learn to use helium tank.

Runner Registration

Details

Runners will be able to register on site at 7:30am on the morning of 10/16.
Register runner's, collect fee. Be able to answer questions about the day.

Runner Bib Distribution

Details

This is the table runners will check-in retrieve their bibs. You will have a list of registered runners with bib numbers. You will check in runner and give them their assigned bib number.

Tod's Point Entrance Greeters

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Stand at the entrance of Tod's Point and welcome people. Tell them to follow signs and balloons to parking and clam-bake area. Tell them there are designated parking areas, and people to show them where to park.

Walk/Run Greeters

Details

Greet folks/ as the enter the walk at Clam-bake area, guide them to the appropriate check-in area. Be able to answer general questions about the day.

Volunteer Leader

Details

Arrive by 7:30am on the morning of. You will be fully prepped as to who the other team leaders are, where they are stationed, who their volunteer are, and what their roles are. You will check in both team leaders and volunteers, and direct them to their location and/or team leader. Logistics team will deliver volunteer t-shirts. You will organize box of volunteer t-shirts and distribute to team leaders as they check in with you.

Food will be delivered. Water, fruit, granola bars, light snacks. Person (s) responsible for setting up, re-stocking when needed, keeping tables orderly, and breaking down food area at the end of day.

Open boxes. Arrange in size order. Keep table orderly. When people check in, you will give them a t-shirt, answer general walk / run questions and be familiar with day's activities

Bounce Castle Attendants

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Attendants main role is to ensure safety. They will direct children to remove shoes and help them enter and exit the bounce castle. Attendants are responsible for limiting the number of children in bounce castle at one time. Manage behavior!

Children's Face-Painting

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Must be 16 years or older and able to interact with children while painting on their faces. We will provide supplies.

Children's Temporary Tattoos

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Children's Crafts

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Must be 16 years or older and able to interact with children. Crafts include making candy necklaces, color your own hat, sand art and sticker scenes. We will provide supplies.

Cartoon Costume

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Tiger Costume: must be 16 years or older and full of energy! Be playful with children.

Cardinal Costume: must be 16 yrs or older and full of energy! Be playful with children.

Location

Walk around clam-bake area and interact with people. People may want to take pictures with you.

Clean-up and Break Down

Details

Responsible for staying after the event has finished to help break down tents, fold table, chair, collect signs from clambake area, walk /run route, entrance to park directional signs. All garbage must be properly bagged. Some heavy lifting may be needed by some.

Walk Leader & Assistant Walk Leader

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Walk leader and Assistant Walk Leader will go to the park two days prior and walk the course to alert town of any safety issues. Morning of, will stake out the course as to where volunteers will stand. 1/2 hour before the walk will meet with volunteers at podium area and lead volunteers to their stations. Leader will dissemenate saftey instructions to walk team.

Walk Monitors

Details

Walk route monitors will monitor the walk route to ensure walkers are walking in the right direction, and will follow safety procedures in the event of an emergency. Walk monitors will meet at the podium on the day of walk at 9:45am for a role review. At that time, the monitors will be assigned specific placement along walk route. Monitors will be in eye sight and ear shot of each other for safety. When all walkers are through, each person will remove signs, stakes, water bottles that may have been dropped by walkers and return to set up area.

Run Leader/ Leader Assistant

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Run Leader and Assistant Run Leader will go to the park two days prior and walk the course to alert town of any safety issues. Morning of, will stake out the course with flags as to where run monitors will stand. At 8:15am Run Leaders will meet with run monitors at podium area and lead volunteers to their stations. Leaders will disseminate safety procedures to run monitors.During race, Run leaders will work with our run timers, Racing Systems.

Run Monitors

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Run monitors will monitor the course to ensure runners are going in the right direction, and will follow safety procedures in the event of an emergency. At 8:15am on the morning of the race, Run Monitors will meet at podium for directions, safety review and route placement. Monitors will be available to answer general questions. When all runners are through, each person will remove signs, flags, stakes, water bottles that may have been dropped by runners and return to set up area for race results
