Stationed throughout the course to help guide runners/walkers. Direct runners on the course, pointing out to them the direction of turns and warning them of any obstacles or hazards. Report any safety concerns to the course manager and/or nearby law enforcement. Cheer loudly and encourage runners as they pass by. Any questions, see Ross Mistretta or anyone at the scoring table, located next to the Start/Finish line. Serve as a runner to RMMR/Tri-State Racing Company in pre-race preparation, posting race results, and other needed tasks. Check in with Ross Mistretta or other members from RMMR/TriState Racing who are stationed at the scoring table near the Start/Finish line for particular tasks. Put linens on tables, set-up and replenish snacks and water bottles for all participants and spectators. Clean up any trash throughout the morning (full trash bags can be discarded at dumpster at end of Oakdale lot). During race, make sure food and drink are replenished. Post-race, pack up any leftover items and bring to supplies tent, breakdown tables and discard trash in dumpster. Located at Mile Marker #1, just before turn into Reservoir on Cherry Lane. Help set up table with linens. Pour and hand out water for runners as they pass by. Collect discarded cups and place in trash receptacles. Upon conclusion of race (after last participant has crossed finish line), break down tables (can be left where they are), gather leftover water and cups, bring full trashbags to dumpster located at the far end of Oakdale Parking lot (paved lot next to Start Village). Two individuals will be stationed in front of the bathrooms by the Clipper Pavilion to collect discarded cups and place in trash receptacles. Upon conclusion of race (after last participant has crossed finish line), help break down tables (can be left where they are), gather leftover water and cups, bring full trashbags to dumpster located at the far end of Oakdale Parking lot (paved lot next to Start Village). Assist with taking down signs/banners post-race and gathering tee-stakes. Signs are located on Cherry Lane from Northfield Avenue to the end of the Reservoir, around the Reservoir, in Start Village, and at McLoone's. All signs should be returned to the supplies tent (tent with four walls) in Start Village. Garbage should be collected and brought to dumpsters at the end of the Oakdale parking lot (paved lot next to Start Village). Set up welcome table (inside zoo entrance) and tent. Staff table: assist with taking photos, wiping down props, registering children who want to participate in the event, handing out passports for registered children to participate in the event, and handing out prizes to children who show completed passports. There is no charge to participate for those 11 and under, but they must register to participate (register under Walk). Upon conclusion of event, break down tent and box up materials. To prepare for race day and ensure a great participant experience, all volunteers must complete a 1-hour online orientation between October 26–28.
