Course Sweepers will ride their bike behind the last runner and carry a race radio. Sweeper must periodically check in with HQ via radio to notify them of location. Sweeper must provide their own bicycle and helmet, and must wear helmet at all times.

Some of these shifts are a tad long and it is highly recommended you wear comfortable shoes, clothing, bring water/snacks, and even a chair depending on location assigned. You must check in at the volunteer check-in on Wednesday, Oct 6 from 11 am-1 pm at the Salem Parks & Recreation Office or at Packet Pickup at the Salem Farmers Market on Friday, Oct 8 from 3-7 pm.

Volunteers will assist in breaking down, cleaning, organizing and putting away banners, tables, coolers, tents, signs, radios, etc. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and work at a steady pace.

Details

Volunteers to assist marking the course. You will meet with the race director at 8 a.m. to learn to how to mark the course. After this 30 minute training, teams of 2 people will go out and mark sections of the course. Requirements: must be able to read a map and have a good sense of direction.
