Set up all food after runners leave the start at 9:45am. One person with a food handler's permit must be with in the food tent at all times.

Early risers needed! Set out all cones for all races. Must be done by 8am. Allow up to 3 hours to complete.
Must have driving partner and another to jump in and out of van (provided unless you have your own with a sliding door) These will be place between Hilldale and Olympiad.

Course Marshal - East Hilldale

Direct runners to turn onto Hilldale from Beach Drive toward Manchester State Park. Half marathoners run back toward town when leaving Hilldale.
Marathoners turn left and run toward Manchester.

Course Marshal- Manchester State Park - Second Y in road inside park

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Direct runners to turn right leading to the parking area (if they go straight, it will take them directly down the hill to the park). DO NOT LET ANYONE RUN OR WALK STRAIGHT DOWN THE HILL DIRECTLY TO THE PARK. This is a MAJOR shortcut! They must run the same direction a car would drive. Runners and walkers will be coming back up out of the park. Keep them going up the hill. Do not let them turn left and do another loop through the parking.

Location

Manchester State Park - Standing at the Y in the road as cars drive down to the park. Position yourself so that the runners turn right toward the first set of parking spaces, following the road the same way cars drive. Runners will be returning from the park up the hill. As they come up the hill, be sure they continue straight up the hill and not back down to the parking area (or else they will do the loop twice!).

Course Marshal - Manchester State Park - Sidewalk by restrooms near water

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

MARATHON RELAY EXCHANGE - EAST HILLDALE/MANCHESTER STATE PARK - Leg 1 to 2 and legs 4 to 5

Details

Direct runners/walkers at exchange to the relay exchange zone. Be sure that exchanges happen within the zone. Direct cars to parking locations and keep runners safe.
Leg 1 runs from Port Orchard Waterfront Park. Direct leg one into the park with the other runners. The exchange is made as they EXIT the park.
Leg 2 begins their run in the exchange zone and turns LEFT toward Manchester and away from downtown to continue following the marathon course.

Leg 4 runs from downtown Manchester to E. Hilldale.
Please note that leg 4 will exchange with leg 5 on Beach Drive, NOT ON E. HILLDALE. The exchange will be located just before E. Hilldale. Leg 4 and 5 DO NOT RUN UP E. HILLDALE, but follow the marathon course.
Leg 5 will run from E. Hilldale to the FINISH! Please make sure leg 5 knows that they are to do an out and back on Leighton, the first road on the right after they start their leg.

Course Tear Down

MARATHON RELAY EXCHANGE - HARPER PARK/OLYMPIAD

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Direct runners/walkers at exchange to the relay exchange zone. Be sure that exchanges happen within the zone. Direct cars to parking locations and keep runners safe.

Leg 2 runs from East Hilldale/Manchester State Park to Harper Park. Leg 2 does NOT run up Olympiad.
Leg 3 begins running in the exchange zone on Olympiad. Leg 3 runs up Olympiad to the marathon turnaround and back down and follows the marathon course to downtown Manchester.
Please note that at NO TIME should runners be crossing the road over to Harper Park. The runners are to keep on course and exchange runners on Olympiad.
Harper Park is to be used only for parking and runners warming up. DO NOT HAVE RUNNERS EXCHANGING LEGS OUTSIDE OF THE EXCHANGE ZONE.

MARATHON RELAY EXCHANGE - DOWNTOWN MANCHESTER/POST OFFICE

Leg 3 runs from Olympiad to downtown Manchester. The relay exchange will be on the sidewalk near the post office, away from the aid station.
Leg 4 runs from downtown Manchester to E. Hilldale, a quick 2 mile jaunt.
Make sure Leg 4 understands that their next exchange is on Beach Drive at Hilldale. They are not to run up E. Hilldale, but exchange just before they get to E. Hilldale.

Course Marshal - Manchester State Park - First Y in the road

Direct runners to head towards the park, away from the campground. DO NOT ALLOW ANY RUNNERS/WALKERS TO ENTER THE CAMPGROUND ROAD. There is a bathroom located next to the sidewalk in the park.

Location

Manchester State Park, first Y in the road where cars either head toward the campground or go left towards the park. Runners will turn left towards the park. They do NOT run through the campground.

PARKING ATTENDANT -VIP PARKING

Direct cars to the VIP Parking Area checking to make sure they have paid for parking. PLEASE see volunteer coordinator if someone INSISTS they paid but you cannot locate them on the list. Arrive and ready to go by 6am. Shift ends at 9:45 am or when all spots are filled.
