FAQ

  • When does Registration close? Online closes on December 12th at 11:59 pm.
  • When and where is packet pick up?  Packet pickup registration is available on Friday, December 17th at Whiskey Gulch, 2065 Bay Street from 9am-2pm and race morning beginning at 6am.
  • Where can I park for the event? Parking is free on Saturdaysin Port Orchard.  There is limited parking at the start. There is additional nearby street parking and a parking lot located next to Etta Turner Park at 1327 Bay Street, about .3 from the race start.
    Additional Parking Information:
    • When visiting downtown Port Orchard there are many locations to park. All locations are posted with signs stating the time restrictions. These are free parking spots available to the public for the time posted. Parking Enforcement Officers monitor the 1, 2- and 4-hour restricted parking spots Monday thru Friday 8-5:00pm. Visitors can park for as long as needed Saturdays, Sundays and Federal Holidays in the time restricted parking areas, as well as the paid parking lot. Between April and October, the annual Farmers Market is held on Saturdays in the paid parking lot near the Port Orchard Marina Park: parking is prohibited in that lot during those times. Here are a few ideas of where to park in the downtown area:
      Bay Street: 2-hr parking on both sides, parallel parking only
      Frederick and Sidney Street: 2-hr parking from waterfront to Prospect
      Lot behind Library: 2-hr parking in the unmarked stalls
      Waterfront parking lot (which lies between Frederick St. and Sidney Ave. north of Bay St.): 4-hr parking including two electric vehicle parking stalls
      Paid parking lot (near the Port Orchard Marina park): Pay and display parking in the numbered parking stalls. $1.00 an hour; $8.00 per day; $38.00 per week
      Residential streets that have 4-hr time restrictions: Prospect, Kitsap, Sidney from Prospect to Dekalb, Cline from Kitsap to Dwight, Robert Geiger, Dekalb, Dwight, Harrison and Seattle.
  • Can I switch race distances after I have signed up? Yes, you can switch distances at packet pickup. There are no refunds. If you move up in distances please be prepared to pay the price difference. Pick up your packet first and then go to the registration table where the timer will reassign your bib number.  Transfers can be made through December 15th. Please contact us at runamokracing2018@gmail.com if you wish to transfer events.
  • Can an entry be transferred to someone else? This option has closed.
  • Is my entry fee refundable? Our policy is no refunds. No exceptions.
  • I'm injured/sick/out of town/tired/don't want to run/my cat ate my running bra (we've heard it all).  Can I get a refund?  Our policy is no refunds. No exceptions.
  • Can I defer my entry?  No.
  • Can I defer my entry if I'm on a marathon relay?  No.
  • Can I pick up someone else's race packet? Yes, as long as you have permission from them to do so. Written permission is not required.
  • Can I pick up my race packet on race day? Yes, you can beginning at 6:00 am.  Packet pick up is also available Friday, December 17th from 9am-2pm at Whiskey Gulch located at 2065 Beach Drive.
  • What time does the race start?

  • Can I start the marathon 1 hour early at 7:00 AM? Yes, there is an early start provided for those needing more than 6 hours to complete the Marathon. Please check in with the timer at the start line.  You must need the extra time to start early. Early starters must be self-supported, know the route, and obey all traffic/pedestrian laws until officers and volunteers are on the course. You are on your own until officers and volunteers arrive on the course.  Early starters are not eligible for age group awards.
  • Is there an early start for the marathon relay, half marathon, 10K or 5K?  No.  
  • Are there sanicans on the course?  Yes, there are 3 on the half marathon course, 1 on the 10K, and 4 on the marathon course. There is also a restroom located near the aid station in downtown Manchester for the marathon.  Since all races are out and backs, you will pass those sanicans twice.  
  • Is the race Chip Timed? Yes, Chip Start, Chip Split, Chip Finish. Your timing tag is attached to the back of your race bib. In order to receive a time your race bib must be worn on the outside front of your top outer garment. Avoid bending your bib which may damage the timing tag. The timing tag is disposable so it does not need to be returned.
  • Do you get a commemorative shirt when you sign up?  All participants will receive performance shirts if registered by November 19. Please check after your event to see if there are extra shirts.
  • Do you get a finisher medal? Yes, all events receive finisher’s medals.  
  • Can I pick up my award after the race? Yes. Check with timing tent to see if you’ve won an award.
  • Can you walk the Marathon? Yes, we have a 7 hour cut off with the early start. You must be able to average a 16 minute per mile pace with the early start. 
  • Can you walk the Half Marathon? Yes, we have a 4 hour cut off.  You must be able to maintain an 18 minute per mile average. 
  • Are strollers allowed? No. This event is sanctioned by USATF who does not allow strollers in sanctioned events
  • Are dogs allowed? Sorry, not for this event.  This event is sanctioned by USATF who does not allow dogs in sanctioned events.
  • What is the average temperature for Port Orchard at the end of December? 35 low - 45 high.
  • How far is the Start from the Finish line? Both are located at the same location, Port Orchard Waterfront Park.
  • I'm from out of town. Any recommendations for lodging?  Yes, the Comfort Inn on Bay Street is a 5 minute walk to the start.  1121 Bay Street, Port Orchard.  COMFORT INN HOTEL
  • Is there a gear check at the start?  Yes
  • Are there sanicans at the start? Yes!
  • Will there be a photographer at the event?  Yes, free downloadable photos will be available after the race.
  • Can I wear headphones during the race? Yes, be safe and don't turn them up so loud that you can't hear volunteers or police. We recommend leaving one earbud out. Be safe out there.
  • Are the courses USATF certified? Yes. The half and full marathon are both USATF certified. The full marathon is a Boston qualifier.

  • Will there be energy gel on the course? Yes, Gu and Gatorade will be on the course.
  • What are the race fees at packet pick up?

    • THERE IS NO DAY OF RACE REGISTRATION FOR THE MARATHON RELAY
  • Aid Stations:  Aid stations are located approximately every 2 miles.
