FAQs

1. What is a virtual hike-a-thon event?

A virtual hike-a-thon event is a virtual fundraising and outdoor activity challenge where participants can complete hikes, walks, yoga, meditation (or any outdoor activity of choice) in their local outdoor area or on their preferred trails at their own pace over a two-week period.

2. When is the virtual hike-a-thon event taking place?

The event is scheduled to run for two weeks from November 20th to November 30th.

3. How do I join a team for the virtual hike-a-thon event?

You must first register for the event itself and then you are given the option to either pick a team you would like to join or create your own!

4. Do I have to log activity every day for two weeks?

No, you don't have to participate every day. Participants have the flexibility to choose when and how often they engage in an activity during the two-week period. You can set your own pace and complete it at your convenience.

5. Are there specific activities I need to complete?

There are no specific requirements. Get Creative! This is about getting you and your team outdoors as much as possible in any way that you choose. You can choose to hike, walk, do yoga, pilates, meditate, play a sport, bird watching, foraging, fishing... the list goes on! Pick any activity that suits your fitness level and preferences. No Matter the activity, every minute counts!

6. Is there a registration fee, and where does the money go?

No, registration is free! However, this is a fundraising event, so we encourage each individual to raise at least $150.

7. How do I track my activity and progress?

Participants will download the RaceJoy app to record their activity. You also have the option to manually upload your activity.

8. Is there an option to just donate if I do not wish to participate in the event?

Yes, you can! Head over to the donation page here and share the link with others in your network who would be interested in donating as well!

9. Is there a fundraising goal for participants?

While each individual has the option to set their own specific fundraising goal, we encourage everyone to fundraise and help us reach our overall event fundraising target of $30,000. Every dollar raised makes a difference. We encourage everyone to raise a minimum of $150.

10. How can I share my progress with my community?

Each participant will have a personal profile page and link that you can share with your community and potential donors. We also encourage participants to share their progress via social media using the hashtag #wehiketohealathon2023 #whthathon2023.
