The 2020 COFFEE POT TURKEY TROT 5K is a virtual 5K that will continue a beloved Thanksgiving tradition for families, friends, and fitness enthusiasts. Stay safe, support your community, and nurture a growing tradition.

Here’s how it works:
  • Register!  All registrants receive a t-shirt, bib, and medal magnet. To receive your shirt prior to the opening of the race window, you must register by November 6th and pick-up your race packet at our drive-through packet pick-up. Participants who register after November 6th will receive their shirts after November 30th and will pay a higher registration fee to cover packet mailing costs. 
  • Pick any day between November 19th and November 30th to run or walk. (Thanksgiving morning could be ideal, but you can also do it before or after so that you can spend all day cooking!) This window includes two weekends for your convenience.
  • Choose a route from one of our suggested courses, carefully selected to take advantage of sidewalks and interesting sights, or choose one of your own (even on a treadmill!) 
  • Choose a timing method, if you want to submit your finish time to our virtual results board. This can be as simple as an old-fashioned stopwatch or as fancy as a Garmin or Apple watch. It’s all for fun, and it’s an honor system!
  • Don your bib, and get running - or walking!
  • Submit your time to our website, or just note that you completed the 5K if you don’t want to share your time (or don’t report it at all - it’s up to you!)
  • Post pictures on Social Media in your Coffee Pot Turkey Trot shirt!

The Coffee Pot Turkey Trot is hosted by the North Shore Elementary PTA to benefit North Shore Elementary, a Title One School in St. Petersburg, Florida. Like most schools in Florida,  North Shore is facing incredible challenges from the Covid pandemic. Race funds are spent exclusively on PTA initiatives like: direct funding to teachers to purchase classroom supplies, the purchase of subscriptions or licenses to help with virtual and in-class learning, and diversity initiatives like the “Let’s Talk About Racism” series. 

The North Shore Elementary PTA believes that every school has the potential for success. Active parents, a supportive community, and engaged students can combine to make any school a warm and stimulating environment in which students are inspired to succeed.

Packet Pickup

If you registered on or before November 6th: Unless you paid to have your packet mailed, your packet should be picked up at our drive-through packet pick-up (see details below.) If you paid to have your packet mailed: Packets will go in the mail sometime on or around November 17th. 

Only participants who registered on or before November 6th will have packets available at packet pickup.  

If you registered after November 6th: Your bib will be mailed after November 20th (when our second bib shipment arrives) and your t-shirt mailed in early December (when our second t-shirt shipment arrives.) Please note: If you registered after November 6th we cannot provide you with your packet at our drive through packet pickup as we do not yet have bibs or t-shirts for participants who registered after November 6th. 

Packet-Pick-Up   Important note - please remember to wear a mask when speaking to the volunteers at packet pick-up. 

Drive Through Packet Pick-up will take place on November 17 & 18 from 5 - 7:30 pm at the North Shore Elementary car circle at 200 35th Ave NE. An aerial map of the location is included below.

To receive your packet, drive through the school’s car circle and tell the volunteer the names of the registrants for whom you are picking up.  Please wear a mask when speaking with the volunteer.  

If You Miss Packet Pickup: If you are unable to pick up your packet on November 17 and 18 you must pay the shipping fee to have your packet mailed to you. Packets will be mailed immediately upon receipt of payment, but are not guaranteed to arrive in time for the race window. Please make every effort to pick up your packet at the drive through packet pickup.   

To pay the shipping fee if you miss packet pickup: visit the website: and select the “Store” option from the menu at the top of the page. You will see the option for packet mailing. You must pay for each packet that is to be mailed, even if they are to the same address. We have priced the mailing of packets, and this fee will just cover the cost of shipping.
