SFTC Long Distance Series
The SFTC Long Distance Series was designed to support and promote long-distance races, (10 miles or longer). LDS is not a competition but is a recognition of runners who complete the required number of long races in the area.
To be eligible for the LDS each year, you must:

Be a SFTC member

Contact the Long Distance Series Coordinator and request to be included in the series. Members who completed the prior year's series will automatically be included.

Earn at least 5 volunteer service points.

Complete at least 5 races that are 10 miles or longer from the approved list of eligible events indicated below*. Please note that a virtual race will not count as a completed race.
* One wildcard race (not part of the approved list) may be substituted providing that it is 10 miles or longer and proof of participation is provided to the LDS Coordinator. A wildcard race must be completed on or before the date of the Pioneer 5 Miler.

Iron Mountain Trail Runs (any one of the three)
Laurel Run Ascent
Mountain Fork Half Marathon

Union Half Marathon
Varmint Half Marathon
Virginia Creeper 10-Miler
Virginia Creeper Marathon

Phipps Bend River Run
All persons meeting the above criteria will each receive a *free* special award at the SFTC Awards Banquet in January. Awards in recent years have been nice sweatshirts, fleece hoodies and jackets.
