The Ingham County Trails & Parks Millage passed for renewal by a sizable margin on August 4th, 2026. This is the second renewal, with the first being in 2020, and the initial proposal passing in 2014. Advocacy is one of the pillars of FLRT's mission, and we are proud to spread awareness of the benefits this millage offers to Ingham County's parks and trail systems. Without this millage, our trails and parks would not be nearly as developed as they are today.

With this renewed millage of 0.5 mills, funds will begin being distributed to various projects starting in 2028. Some of these projects include:

  • City of East Lansing - Northern Tier Trail Extension to Coolidge Rd
  • Vevay Township - Hayhoe Trail Extension and Trailhead
  • Ingham County - Lake Lansing South Playground
  • City of Lansing - River Trail Bridge Relocation (Elm St/Red Cedar River)
  • Red Cedar River Clearing Project
  • City of Leslie - Trail Continuation Project
  • City of Williamston - Honor For All Memorial Trail
  • Village of Dansville - Park Development
  • Ingham County - Hawk Island Splash Pad Renovation

And many more!

The Friends of the Lansing Regional Trails held an informational meeting regarding the Trails & Parks Millage renewal vote on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Playmakers located at 2299 West Grand River Ave. Okemos, MI 48864
