2025 Spring / Summer Series

This warm-weather series is designed to inspire runners of all levels to stay active, connect with the local running community, and enjoy some of the most iconic races in the region.

As part of the Lynchburg Road Runners Club’s annual programming, the Spring/Summer Race Series features a collection of races from late winter through early summer. Participants accumulate points in two categories: overall male or female, and within their respective age group. Whether you're chasing a personal best or just getting started, this series is a fun and supportive way to stay moving and motivated throughout the season.

To be eligible for a Spring/Summer Series award, runners must complete in at least 5 races. Although membership in the Lynchburg Road Runners is not required to participate, LRRC members do enjoy a discount on all races.

Rise and Rebuild 5K

March 29, 2025

We are excited to announce our third annual 5K for the Free Clinic! In previous years, this event has successfully raised funds for colon cancer awareness, education, and screenings. Unfortunately, this past Christmas, our clinic building suffered extensive smoke damage due to a nearby fire. As we work to RISE and REBUILD, we are pivoting our efforts to ensure our patients continue to receive care at alternative locations. This year, our 5K will focus on raising funds to rebuild our Main Street location, so we can resume providing essential medical and dental services to our underinsured community.

Run 4 Their Lives

May 3, 2025

Run 4 Their Lives is Freedom 4/24’s 5k race tradition- created to bring awareness to the issue of human trafficking.  Since its inception, this race has developed to become a fundraiser and tool to implement prevention education.  We ask participants to partner with us in advocacy efforts by becoming fundraisers and using the race as a platform to share about the issue of human trafficking and the work of Freedom 4/24. Funds raised through each Run 4 Their Lives race are used to support the continued prevention and restoration work in the fight for freedom both locally and globally.

Percival's Island Firecracker 5 Mile

July 4, 2025

Celebrate Independence Day with a 5 mile race! Lynchburg is known as the "Hill City"....but this course is flat, flat, flat.
The start finish is located at the Blackwater Creek Natural Area Percival's Island in downtown Lynchburg and the course follows the Blackwater Creek Bikeway...a paved rails to trails path along the James River. A bit longer than a 5k but without the effort of a 10k, 5 miles is considered by many the perfect distance. This is also the 9th race in the Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series.
