What are Pracitce Scenarios?

Join us on April 28th for a webinar on Practice Scenarios!

Practice Scenarios are a way for Timers to get more experience with setups that go beyond the basic RaceDay Scoring Certification. They can be used for training new staff, getting a better understanding of advanced topics, or just to explore the software.

Each Scenario comes with everything you need to set up the Race, but relies on the user to figure out how to fulfill the Race Director's requests and prompts that happen during the race.

For a more "real world" feel, you can use the reads provided in conjunction with the Stream Playback utility.

Follow the Prompts:

The initial setup comes in the form of an email from Ron Synup, the RD for all events in the practice scenarios. The first page includes links to any reads, participants, or partial setups (to be imported into RaceDay Scoring) you may need.

For races without a starer setup, please use the "Create A New Race" option to get started.

Once you've started the activity, you will receive a set of prompts. Each prompt represents something that typically happens during a Race - some will be notes on what time an event starts, others will be requests from Ron, questions from participants, or notes from Packet Pickup. Make the appropriate changes in RaceDay Scoring and mark the prompt as Done.

Prompts do not need to be completed in any particular order, but going from top to bottom represents the flow of the race.

Submit For Grading:

Once you feel like everything is complete (Extra Credit prompts are optional!) send your RaceDay Scoring setup to Support using the "Get Help" button.

Please let Support know that you are submitting the ticket for a Practice Scenario so that they can prioritize live races and indicate which Practice Scenario you are submitting for so that grading is handled smoothly.

Support will return your grade along with detailed instructions for how anything marked as incorrect should have been handled. Grades are stored, but you can re-submit a Scenario at any time.
