There's a lot of craziness happening all around us these days. In the face of continued attacks on DEI programs and initiatives around the country, I've been thinking a lot about the people that will ultimately be hurt the most... and I've thought a lot about the families and the youth that are served by New Community Outreach. It makes this year's race all the more important - it is one small way to stand up and fight. To say that programs and organizations that work toward the healing, reconciliation and flourishing of communities SHOULD continue and, in fact, are vital and important to creating the world that we all want.

New Community Outreach does just that in the Bronzeville community on the Southside.  It works to mitigate the impact of trauma that is caused by sources like gun violence by intentionally partnering with schools, residents, and other community organizations to be responsive to the needs, which includes youth healing centered programming, fresh produce distribution, and more.
