Please read the information below and if you have additional questions, contact Peter Corum, (304) 283-2467, peter@coremortgageservices.com, President, Jefferson High School Cross Country Boosters.
Purpose
Provide a fun and easy fundraising platform for all Jefferson High School clubs, organizations, sports, teachers’ projects and other community organizations. All are welcome to participate.
How It Works
The Cougar Polar Mile is an Official Jefferson High School Cross Country (JHS XC) Fundraising Event; however, it is considered an Activity Event for all other participating school entities.
JHS XC will host a classic walk-a-thon, where each runner will pay a single $20 entrance fee. T-shirt and swag included. 4 timed races and 2 fun runs.
Each registered participant will be able to raise funds for their designated clubs, organizations, sports, and/or teachers’ projects – or participants can just run a race.
Each recipient of funds will be responsible for controlling and managing their respective clubs, non-profits, organizations, sports and/or teachers’ participant funds. JHS XC will only register the runner and groups.
Does my Group have to be part of the Jefferson County School system to register?
No, You can register your 501 (c)3, club, organization, sports team, etc ...
How does my group sign up?
Administrators
Have your organization's Point of Contact (we call them an Administrator) , call, (304) 283-2467, or email, peter@coremortgageservices.com, Peter Corum to set up your entity as a Group Approved to Raise Funds. This will only take a few minutes. Peter will send you a complete start-up package, which includes: cover page, SOP 4.6b Activities and Fundraiser form (pre-filled), Organization Donation Sheet, and Runner Donation Sheet (customizable for entity branding).
Each recipient of funds will be responsible for controlling and managing their respective clubs, non-profits, organizations, sports and/or teachers’ participant funds. JHS XC will only register the runner and groups.
The Administrator then Invites Friends, i.e. members, to register under their registered Group, for example JHS Club.
Participants
Susan, a student at Jefferson High School, wants to raise money for JHS Club. She needs to register by February 11, 2020, in order to ensure she receives a free t-shirt. T-shirt sizes are chosen at the time of online registration. Registering is as simple as clicking on the link sent to her by her Administrator or going to www.cougarpolarmile.com > Sign Up and registering and choosing JHS Club, when prompted. The final list will be reviewed with the Administrator and JHS XC. A reconciled list will be submitted to the JHS Finance Department for the funds to be transferred ($20 x # of racers) at an agreed upon time. All funds raised in excess of the $20 runner fees will remain in the entity’s account and control. Entrance fees are going towards event costs and t-shirts.
The Pitch
Susan says, “Hello, my name is Susan and I am a JHS Club student. I am participating in the Cougar Polar Mile, which is a health and wellness fundraising event. The funds I raise go to … (state your need). Would you be interested in sponsoring me at $20 to run 1 mile?” The check is then made out in the name of JHS Club, not JHS XC. All funds are controlled by the entity.
The Math
JHS Club has 50 students that each raises $100 = 50 x $100 = $5,000 minus 50 runners x $20 entrance fee, $1,000, which goes to JHS XC; and JHS Club makes $4,000.
It’s a Win-Win-Win situation.
