The First Day 5K takes place the morning of January 1 – there’s no better way to start the new year – and starts and finishes in front of Cane Bay Elementary School. But don’t worry, we appreciate that most people need a little extra time to get out of bed on New Year’s Day so race start isn’t until 9:27 (9 so you can sleep in and :27 in honor of the new year – 2027).
Yes, participants are welcome to wear headphones/earbuds on course; however, we ask that you refrain from wearing noise-cancelling headphones as a matter of safety.
Yes, the First Day 5K will be professionally timed by GO Race Productions. Participants will be able to view their results by scanning the QR code on their bib or by visiting the Results page. NOTE: Timing does not start until participants cross the start line.
Timing for the First Day 5K is provided by GO Race Productions. All runners will receive a bib with the timing tag affixed to the back. Nothing is required of the participant to activate the timing. Refer to the following tips to help ensure you receive an accurate time:
- Race bib is clearly visible on the front of your torso
- Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (do not fold or wrinkle)
- Race bib is pinned on all four corners
- Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc)
Awards will be given to the Top 3 Overall Male & Female participants as well as the Top 3 Male & Female in each of the following age groups:
- 9 & under
- 10-14
- 15-19
- 20-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50-59
- 60-69
- 70+
