The Buffalo Creek Half Marathon is organized and operated by the volunteers of the Butler Freeport Community Trail Council for the benefit of the Butler Freeport Community Trail. The proceeds from the half marathon are used by the Trail Council to develop, maintain, and promote the Butler Freeport Community Trail.
2022 was the 30th Anniversary of the Butler Freeport Community Trail. The Trail officially opened on October 4, 1992. However, the Trail did not yet connect Butler and Freeport. It wasn’t until 2011 that this 21 mile trail lived up to its name, connecting Butler and Freeport along the historic railroad line with a solid improved surface between Freeport and Butler. In July 2015, the Trail Council opened the long awaited bridge truly connecting the Trail to the City of Butler at Father Marinaro Park. The Trail was complete!
The work of the Trail Council is never ending --- maintenance and improvement of the Butler Freeport Community Trail is our mission. The volunteers of the Butler Freeport Community Trail Council were here from the beginning and with your help we will be here long into the future.
