About the Lafayette Res Run for Education

The Lafayette Chamber and the City of Lafayette are co-sponsors of the Lafayette Res Run for Education which is traditionally held the third Sunday in October. 

The 2024 Lafayette Res Run for Education will be held Sunday, October 20. 5k: 8am, 10k: 8:15am, 2 mile: 8:45am in downtown Lafayette, CA.

Back by popular demand, from its introduction in 2020, you can register for the Reservoir Challenge – the virtual race which “runs” around the 2.7-mile paved trail of the Lafayette Reservoir October 12-19. Please note, the Reservoir Challenge is not an option on Sunday, October 20 as the Reservoir will be closed for the 10K runners. The Reservoir Challenge is great opportunity to safely walk or run the Reservoir on your own, perhaps beating your time from last year. 

Beneficiaries of the event are the local schools and the services and programs of the Chamber. See below for what we gave back to our schools last year! 

The Run is the city’s most popular “family affair”, involving kids, parents, grandparents, and hundreds of serious runners from throughout the Bay Area. Join us in 2024 for the 10k, 5k, the 2 mile run/walk for fun or the Reservoir Challenge! Sprinters, walkers, the “stroller brigade” and many of Lafayette’s top four legged residents are welcome to join in the fun. 

The first 100 students to register from each school will receive a voucher for a free 1/4 pound of bulk candy from Zoonie's during packet pickup!

Race packets that include our traditional long sleeve t-shirt (while supplies last) and race bib will be available for pickup at the Lafayette Chamber Office, 251 Lafayette Circle, Lafayette, CA [map it] on the following dates/times:

• Tuesday, October 15, 9am-5pm
• Wednesday, October 16, 10-6pm
• Thursday, October 17, 9am-5pm
• Friday, October 18, 9am-1pm
• Saturday, October 19, 9am-noon
• Sunday, October 20, 7:15am-8:45am (at RACE CHECKIN near Starbucks on Mt. Diablo Blvd.)

Giving Back to Our Local Schools

The 31st annual Lafayette Res Run for Education was a HUGE success! In 2023, 2240 participants registered and ran on the fall Sunday morning complete with a rainbow. This annual fundraiser has allowed the Lafayette Chamber the ability to give back $178,195.27 over the past 5 years directly to our local school organizations! The 2023 community effort raised a record breaking $48,219.71.
