"This race was beyond impactful and is a cherished memory I’ll carry with me forever.

My mom, Donna, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in June 2021, so by the time the Elm Street Run took place in May 2022, she had been battling brain cancer for nearly a year. By that time, she had lost the ability to walk unassisted. Her love of walking was one of my moms’ defining characteristics prior to brain cancer. She was an avid walker and it was something that brought her such joy in life! While she was unable to walk on her own at the event, she was able to take part in the 1 mile survivor race in a wheelchair, pushed by her adoring husband and surrounded by her “beautiful village of family and friends,” as she lovingly called them. The energy, love, community, and support that day was palpable.

I am forever grateful that she was able to attend the inaugural Elm Street Run before her passing just a few months later in July, and that she raised thousands of dollars to support a wonderful organization that makes a substantial impact in the local brain tumor community. The smile on her face on race day was the biggest we’d seen in months, and the experience that day is something I will never forget." - Joslin Owens

"The inaugural Elm Street 10 Miler was a great event! I look forward to the 2nd year and the addition of the 5k. There’s something for everyone! My family has personally been impacted by brain cancer, so the cause hits close to home. It felt good last year to join the community of runners and tackle the 10. For others in our family, the mile walk was meaningful to do together. This event was fast, fun, and uplifting, and is back on our calendar for May 2023!" Hollis Oberlies
