Strathmore Parks Run
4 Mile Race - 9:30 a.m. Start Time
Strathmore is a city neighborhood in the southwest corner of Syracuse, NY. It is conveniently located minutes from Downtown, Armory Square, the Zoo, Syracuse University, and the DestiNY Mall. Most of the neighborhood homes were built in the 1920's and 1930's, but you will find some that date back to the early 1900's and a few that were recently built. Recently, a part of the Strathmore neighborhood that was originally known as Strathmore By-The-Park (about 200 homes bounded by Wellesley Rd to the east, north by Strathmore Dr, west by S. Geddes St, and south by Glenwood Ave) was designated as a Federal and New York State Historic District. This section joins Onondaga Park and a handful of individual homes in the neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places. Notable landmarks within Strathmore include Onondaga Park, Most Holy Rosary Church, and the Woodland Reservoir. For more info on the Strathmore neighborhood, visit www.strathmoreneighborhood.com
The Strathmore Parks Run race is coordinated by the Greater Strathmore Neighborhood Association, whose mission is to preserve, promote, and protect the quality of life in the greater Strathmore area. A portion of the Parks Run proceeds will benefit the Greater Strathmore Neighborhood Association and area groups.
