Blue Island Oyster Foundation presents the 4th annual 5K to protect the Great South Bay. The run benefits 2 great local environmental organizations, Blue Island Oyster Foundation & Save the Great South Bay!
Given the social distancing policies in effect, we have been discouraged from gathering in large groups. In light of that, we will be changing this year’s race to a “virtual run/walk.” We ask everyone who registered to run or walk that morning do so on their own. Your t-shirt or tote bag will be sent to you in the mail. No formal results will be posted, but we ask participants to share their runs via social media using #5kRunfortheBay.
Race management by SRC Timing
Participants will have the option of a race t-shirt, or a custom canvas tote bag . Both items will have the race logo and sponsor logos.
***The first 500 participants to register will be guaranteed a giveaway.
Online registration will remain open through 11pm on the day of the event.
There will be no in person packet pickup this year. All race giveaways will be mailed to participants after the event is over. Participants should expect delivery approximately 2-3 weeks after race day.
Question: Can I sign up for the 5k run even though I want to walk?
Answer: Yes, however, if you sign up for the timed run with the intent to walk it, you must follow the full 5k course, NOT the shorter walking path. Not following the running course will throw off the timing results for the race.
Question: Can I run/walk with a jogging stroller?
Answer: Yes! However, we ask that you start in the back & be mindful of other participants to ensure everyone's safety.
