FAQs

  1. Will we have the race if it rains? Yes.  The 5K race is rain or shine.  The only reason we will cancel the race will be for lightening.  
  2. Can I register for the 5K on race morning? Yes.  You can register on race day morning inside JDL Fast Track at center track beginning at 7AM-830AM.  Keep in mind we cannot guarantee your race T-shirt size will be available.  We encourage everyone to register early to guarantee their correct T-shirt size. 
  3. Do you accept a credit card for payment for registration on race day?  Yes.  You will be able to register for the race on your mobile device and we will have mobile devices for you to register. 
  4. How soon do I need to register to guarantee my 5K t-shirt size?   We encourage participants to register by August 20th to guarantee their T-shirt size for the 5K t-shirt.  
  5. How will I know where to park?  There will be clear signage for parking and volunteers available to direct you.
  6. Are bathrooms available at the event?  Accessible bathrooms are available inside JDL Fast Track facility.  
  7. Can I run with a stroller? Runners with strollers are allowed and will join the Adaptive Wheelchair Rider & Runner Duos at start time. 
  8. Where is the start line?  The start line is inside JDL Fast Track at the START/FINSH.  Our 5K offers a unique course as we start and finish inside JDL Fast Track.  To learn more about our sponsor JDL Fast Track, click here https://www.jdlfasttrack.com/
  9. Will there be people on the course to guide me?  Yes.  Volunteers will serve as course monitors to guide participants.  Course markings for our 5K is provided by Twin City Track Club. 
  10. Is there water available on the course?  Yes.  2 water stations will be along the course.  Water will also be available at the finish line. 
  11. What will the weather be like on October 14th?  The temperatures in Winston-Salem are comfortable with a high up to  71 degrees and a low of 53 degrees. 
  12. What should I wear?  It is always best to check the weather the night before the race.  Wearing layers is always a good idea.  Always wear your bib on the outermost layer. 
  13. Where should I wear my race bib?  Please attach your bib to the front of your T-shirt at your chest level so the timing company can accurately get your time.  
  14. Will there be food provided at the event?  Nutritional snacks will be provided prior to and after the race for 5K participants. City with Dwellings Food Truck will be on site for participants to purchase delicious items. 
  15. If I leave early and win an award, can you mail it to me?  If you are not present to pick up your award, we will hold your award for you to pick up at the Solutions For Independence office at 7744 North Point Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.  If you are from out of town, please contact the Race Director at celia@sicilnc.org for assistance.
