Hello, Armory Park
The Big Gay 5K is proud to call Armory Park home for our inaugural event. Its beautiful streets, historic homes, neighborhood character, and wonderfully walkable layout make it exactly the kind of place we hoped to celebrate — not simply pass through. On Saturday, October 24, we invite neighbors to come outside, cheer on runners and walkers, enjoy the festivities at Armory Park, and be part of a joyful morning built around community, movement, and belonging.
To make the event possible, there will be temporary street closures and traffic restrictions along the 5K route on Saturday morning. The course starts and finishes near S. 6th Avenue and E. 13th Street and travels through the Armory Park neighborhood. Event staff are working with the Armory Park Neighborhood Association and the City of Tucson to minimize impacts, maintain necessary access where possible, and reopen streets as quickly as safely possible. We appreciate the neighborhood sharing its streets with us for a few hours — and we hope you’ll come join the fun while we’re here.

In a stroke of pure event coincidence, we are sharing the weekend of October 24-25 with Cyclvia. They are celebrating their 25th anniversary with Armory Park as their most northern hub on the route. Please check their website for full details of the Sunday event.
