Entertainment on the Course
Two years ago, for the first time, we were granted an exemption to the City of St. Petersburg's Noise Ordinance, meaning we were allowed to provide musical entertainment on the course.
With all our courses running into and around exclusive residential neighborhoods, we booked Alvaro Buenrostro to perform. Besides being an accomplished endurance athlete, he is a virtuoso violinist with the Tampa Bay Symphony. We guessed that IF Alvaro woke any of the local residents, it would be to the pleasant sounds of his violin.
At other parts of the course, we recruited other solo performers, including a drummer, a flautist, and a saxophonist. In our commercial areas on the halfathon and marathon courses, there are less noise restrictions, allowing us to hire deejays to provide upbeat music, as well as the Second Time Arounders Marching Band on Central Avenue.
