Please bring your drivers license and a copy of your confirmation email. Runners may pick up other runners packets with a copy of photo ID and their confirmation email.

Race day registration and packet pickup will be offered on race day (Oct. 14, 2018) for at least 1 hour at Knox Stadium on the Juniata College campus. Thus. race day registration will only be available for a limited amount of time. We encourage you to arrive early to register and/or pick up your packet/bib/t-shirt. Race day registration will close 25 minutes before the start of the race, no exceptions.  We will offer no discounts on race day, so please consider registering before online registration closes on Oct. 10th.

Q: Can I register on race day?

A: We will offer registration on both race days (Oct. 13th & 14th). We encourage you to register well before race day, but race day registration will be available. We will offer no discounts or coupons on race day registration. It will cost you more when you sign up on race day, so we encourage you to sign up early either online or via a paper registration form. Race day registration will end at least 25 minutes before the start of the races on both days. No exceptions! So, please arrive early if you plan to register on race day. If you are waiting until race day to register because you do not want to register online, then we suggest that you request a paper registration form. By mailing us a paper registration form, you can (1.) avoid the online signup fee, (2.) avoid the higher registration price on race day and (3.) avoid the hassle of registering and paying on race day.

Q: Can I register on the Saturday Oct. 13th race day for a race on Sunday, Oct. 14th?

A: Yes, you can go to our registration table on Oct. 13th at our 8K/1M event and register for one of our Oct. 14th races (half, relay, 5K & 2K). However, registration on Oct. 13th will end 25 minutes before the start of the race. Thus, we encourage you to be at the registration table between 6:45am and 7:30am.

Q: I already registered for the half marathon (or 8K), but now I want to do the Standing Stone Challenge? Is it too late? Can I still register for the challenge and how do I do that?

A: You can still register for the challenge by simply registering for the other race that you need to complete the challenge. On the "find a participant" list, you will simply be listed twice (Standing Stone Half Marathon & Juniata Valley 8K) instead of once under "Standing Stone Challenge". You will still be registered for the challenge and will receive the extra swag when you complete (finish) both. Unfortunately, you will not be able to receive the slight discount that you would have received for signing up for them both at once.

Q: Do you have paper registration forms?

A: Yes. If you do not wish to use our online registration process for some reason, you may request a paper registration form. Just use the "Contact the Race" button near the bottom of our home page to let us know that you would like a paper registration form. We will usually then send one to you via email, but if you wish to receive one in the mail (USPS), just let us know and be sure to include your mailing address when you contact us.

Q: What is the minimum age to participate in the half marathon and 5K?

A: The minimum age for the Half Marathon is 15 years old. The minimum age for the 5K is 8 years old. 5K participants aged 8-10 must be accompanied by a registered parent or adult during the entire course. Children under 8 can enter the 2K charity walk, but must be registered and accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Q: Does the Standing Stone Challenge award overall and age group awards?

A: The Standing Stone Half Marathon and the Juniata Valley 8K each give out overall and age-group awards. A runner would have to win an overall or age-group award for one or both races. However, we do not have a separate category of overall or age-group awards for those that complete the Standing Stone Challenge. However, those runners that complete (finish both races) the Standing Stone Challenge will receive some type of finishers award.

Q: Do you have team categories?

A: Yes, we have four separate team categories. Those categories include: 1). Running Clubs (recognized by either USATF or RRCA), 2.) Open Groups (any group of friends, charity organization, alumni groups, informal running clubs, etc., 3.) Corporate Teams (employees of specific businesses/companies), 4.) Relay Teams (2-person half marathon relay team). Corporate teams often help to raise money for charities. Running clubs require a minimum of 4 members. Open teams require a minimum of 3 members. Corporate teams require a minimum of 3 members. Business/Corporate sponsors may be awarded free race entries depending under the level of sponsorship. Relay teams require exactly 2 members.

Q: Can I sell or give my bib to someone else?

A: Absolutely not. You may not sell, gift or transfer your bib to another person. Selling or giving your bib to someone else can cause chaos in the results standings, especially if the person getting/buying the bib places in your age group or overall. Also, we rely upon the emergency information (contacts, allergies, etc.) provided by the original registered runner. Anyone selling or giving their bib to someone else will be disqualified from the race and barred from all future years of this race and all Standing Stone Events LLC races.

Q: What happens if I bandit the race?

A: If caught, you will be disqualified from the race and barred from all future Standing Stone Events LLC races. Running the race without registering (without paying) is unfair to other runners, volunteers and staff. Our race supplies are ordered based upon the total number of runners/walkers registered. By taking a finisher medal, post-race snack & water, or on course hydration or energy gel, someone that legitimately signed up (and paid) may not receive one. This is not only unfair, but it is unethical. Running without registering is also a safety issue for you.

Q: Can I get a refund?

A: No refunds provided for this race. However, registered runners (except for the 2K) can defer their entry until next year. Please note: A $2. deferral fee applies if you use the defer option. Deferral deadline is Oct. 1, 2018.

Q: Can I get a deferral?

A: Yes, you can defer your entry until next year. A $2. deferral fee applies and the deadline to defer is Oct. 1, 2018.

Q: Can I transfer (change distance) from the Half Marathon to the 5K (or vice versa)?

A: Yes, event transfers are allowed online until October 1st. Transfers from a higher cost race to a lower cost race is free. However, runners must pay the price difference when transferring from a lower cost race to a higher cost race (from the 8K to the half marathon for example), plus pay a $1.25 race transfer fee. Deadline: Oct. 1, 2018. We will accept race day event transfer (distance change) on Sunday October 14th only, as long as you pay a $3.00 transfer fee and the difference (if transferring to a higher cost race).

Q: Can I use a baby jogger, roller blades, skateboard, scooter or bike?

A: No. These items are all strictly prohibited from being on the racecourse, except for authorized race staff or emergency personnel (race staff may use a pace bike in front of and behind the race, while emergency personnel may use bicycles to patrol the race). These items are prohibited for the safety of all of our runners, workers, volunteers, spectators, sponsors, charity partners and emergency personnel.

Q: Can I walk in the race? Is the race walker friendly?

A: Absolutely. Walkers are encouraged to enter the 2K Charity Walk, the 5K or the 8K. While the half marathon is a run, runners can certainly walk portions of the course. You must complete the half marathon race in 4 hours and 30 minutes, otherwise you can finish but may be unsupported and may be told to move to the sidewalk to finish and timing may be stopped.

Q: Will RaceJoy tracking be available at the half marathon?

A: The race organizers decision to use or not use the Racejoy tracking service will be determined by our registrations numbers by September 10, 2018. If RaceJoy tracking is used, it will be available for the half marathon and 5K.

Q: Is there a gear check?

A: TBD. Please check back.

Q: Can I wear a costume while I run in the race?

A: Yes, Halloween and other costumes are allowed in the half marathon, 5K or 2K walk. However, you must make sure that you are able to see clearly and able to run easily without overheating. Your costume must be safe to you and others. Remember, the half marathon has a trail section. You must be able to navigate the trail safely, which may be narrow in some places. Also, we reserve the right to reject anyone wearing costumes that we deem too offensive. Runners will be asked to change if we deem their costume inappropriate or dangerous to the runner, race officials or volunteers. Please use common sense.

Q: What is average weather in Huntingdon on race day?

A: Average high: 62 degrees  Average low: 42 (Oct. 14th)

Q: Can I use headphones or earbuds on the course?

A: The rule prohibiting headphones is no longer enforced by USATF; however, the Standing Stone Half Marathon & 5K recommends you do not wear them during the race. Headphones and earbuds impair a Runners’ ability to hear and react to hazardous situations and directions given by race officials and emergency personnel.

Q: I missed the packet pickup and the race. Can you mail me my race bib, t-shirt, finisher medal and other race swag?

A: No. Sorry, we do NOT mail any race swag to no shows.

Q: I placed overall and won prize money! Will I receive my prize money on race day?

A: No. The race does not pay out prize money on race day. Times and placings must be reviewed. Sometimes registration errors, illegal bib transfers, cheating, drug use or other factors later detected can change the overall and age group placings. The race will review the results (including photo and video images) and send a check to the overall and Master's winners well after the race. We will aim to mail checks between a 15 to 45 day period follow the race.
