PARTNERS FOR STRINGS, INC.:  Established in 2020, Partners for Strings, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization that runs the FREE year-round Partners for Strings Virgin Islands Youth Orchestra program for at-risk youth ages 6 to 17.  Our free weekly after-school and summer programs train children on the violin, cello, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, steel pan, drums, and other orchestral instruments. The organization’s sessions take place at G-Clef Music Academy in Mandela Circle on St. Thomas. In 2022, PFS officially launched the youth orchestra. Over the past 4 years, over 150 students have participated in the after-school and/or summer programs. Currently, the youth orchestra has over 30 members whose skills range from beginner to the advanced level.

The entire community benefits from the Partners for Strings Virgin Islands Youth Orchestra, because as the program expands its memberships, we are achieving our mandate of transforming the lives of young U.S. Virgin Islands children. Essentially we are using music as the “instrument for change”. Currently, the USVI has some major issues regarding children and education that require immediate “changes”. According to the 2025 KIDS COUNT USVI Data Book, released by the St. Croix Foundation for Community Development, 70% of fourth graders were not reading proficiently and 73% of eighth graders scored below proficient in math.  Through learning how to read and play music, members gain skills that will help them excel in MATH, SCIENCE, and LANGUAGE–the key STEAM skills. The program also enhances each member’s confidence, creativity, memory, focus, discipline, and social skills. Another cool benefit is that they make new friends.

PARADISE POINT TRAMWAY:  The must-do scenic attraction on the island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands is Paradise Point's St. Thomas Skyride.   The Skyride takes visitors and locals to the top of Paradise Point with sweeping views 700 feet above the St. Thomas Harbor.  From this breathtaking vantage point you can see Historic Downtown Charlotte Amalie, Water Island, and Hassle Island.  On a clear day, you can see all the way to Puerto Rico and St. Croix.  Scenic-Seekers should never miss the opportunity to "Ride the view"!
