Walking for Alex. Supporting the Autism Community.

We are walking in memory of our son and brother, Alex LaMorie, who called 911 seeking help after becoming the victim of a cybercrime. While experiencing an acute crisis, Alex tragically died during the response to his call for help in Columbia, Howard County, Maryland.

We walk in his memory and carry his life, his voice, and his story with us and in support of the important work of the Autism Society of Maryland. We walk to help advance their mission of educating, supporting, and advocating for autistic individuals and their families throughout their lives. We also walk in support of their efforts to promote safety, justice, understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for autistic people in our communities and to educate the systems and professionals who serve them.

In Alex’s memory, we hope to help build a world where people with autism—and people of all abilities—are seen, heard, understood, valued, included, and safe, and where individuals and families know they are part of a community that stands beside them, advocates with them, and recognizes the inherent dignity and worth of every person.

Help me reach my fundraising goal for the Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run on October 3, 2026. Please make a donation and support the Autism community in Maryland!

Thank you for your support!
