NW Groups
NWANA NW Groups help people start, organize, and grow local Nordic Walking activity in their communities.
An NW Group can be a small local walking group, a city group, a club-based group, a workplace wellness group, a school or university group, a senior/community health group, or a team connected to NWANA challenges and events.
Why NW Groups Matter
Nordic Walking grows when people have a place to begin, a leader to follow, and a group that helps them stay active.
NW Groups help NWANA build local participation, safe technique, community activity, future instructors, event hosts, challenge teams, and competition pathways across North America.
Who Can Start or Join an NW Group?
NW Groups may be created or supported by:
- local Nordic Walking leaders
- instructors and instructor candidates
- clubs and community groups
- workplace wellness programs
- schools and universities
- senior centers and health programs
- municipal recreation programs
- sports organizations
- families, friends, and local supporters
What NW Groups Can Do
NW Groups can help people walk together, learn safe technique, join challenges, support local events, build teams, connect with NWANA programs, and create a foundation for future leaders and competitions.
Some groups may stay informal and community-focused. Others may grow into larger local programs, event teams, academy pathways, or future competition and fundraising partners.
From Local Group to NWANA Pathway
An NW Group can become the first step toward instructor training, local events, challenge participation, official competitions, fundraising teams, sponsor relationships, or larger Umbrella NW Groups.
NWANA is building this pathway so local activity can connect to a broader North American structure without losing its community purpose.
Start or Connect an NW Group
If you already lead a Nordic Walking group, walking group, wellness group, club, school program, or community activity, NWANA wants to help connect your work to the larger pathway.
If you do not have a group yet, you can begin with a few people, join a challenge, invite a local leader, or connect with NWANA to explore the next step.
