Who Are We?


Mission:

Sierra Challenge Express (SCE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the health and well-being of our communities by uniting individuals from all walks of life and sharing our passion for running, jogging, and walking.

 

Vision:

SCE’s vision is to create a joyful, family-oriented, healthy, and enthusiastic environment where people can run, walk, and socialize while supporting our community and charitable causes for future generations.

SATURDAYS


When: Every Saturday @ 7:30-8:30am

Where: Parking lot at Parkview Shelter

Distance: 3 - 6 miles (depending on individual pace)

For runners, a typical Saturday workout consists of a 2-2.5 mile warmup, followed by 2 miles of tempo running or intervals, and ends with approximately 1 mile cool down. Coach Ray makes an effort to create a route that keeps runners more or less together despite varying paces.

SUNDAYS


When: Every Sunday @ 7-8am

Where: Parking lot at Parkview Shelter

Distance: 3-5 miles (depending on individual pace)

Sundays are all about the hills! A typical Sunday workout will include a warmup, followed by either hill repeats of longer intervals that include some of Woodward Park's larger hills. The overall run tends to be shorter in order to fit in some strength training drills toward the end (e.g. walking lunges, squats,...). Coach Ray makes an effort to create a route that keeps runners more or less together despite varying paces.

Seasonal Track Workouts -

Tuesdays & Thursdays

When: Every Tuesday and Thursday @ 5am, typically between the months of May and October. Official start and end dates are emailed to members, and is largely based on weather. Workouts are typically 45-60 minutes.

Where: Clovis West track

Distance: Approximately 3 miles total

Please Bring: A yoga mat (or towel) and a resistance band

Track workouts are all about speed! A typical track workout begins with a minimum of a 1 mile warm-up (4 laps), and is followed by speed intervals of various lengths (generally, 200m, 400m, 800m). Cool down consists of light strength training, potentially utilizing resistance bands.
