ASCV 5K & Family Fun Day

Thank you for supporting our fundraising efforts for the 2024 ASCV 5K & Family Fun Day!

Michael was diagnosed at the age of three years old with PDD-NOS which is now known simply as autism. Michael is now 24 years old and, like every autism family, our journey has had its ups and downs, challenges and successes.  Michael is friendly, creative, enthusiastic, and adored by our whole family including his tirelessly supportive sisters, Kelly and Lauren, and new brother-in-law, Saman.  He enjoys participating in numerous ASCV activities including rock climbing, hiking, bike trips, art and theater classes, and community outings with other adults on the spectrum.  Michael's dream is to live in California and work for his idol, Bill Nye the Science Guy.  Currently, Michael is thriving and will soon move out to an apartment with supported living.  Michael has been unemployed for the past two months, but will be starting a new job with Michael's craft store in April.  Yes, he will be Michael at Michael's!! :) Our family owes much of Michael’s success to the help we’ve received from the Autism Society of Central Virginia.
