Blackbeard's Revenge 100

Sat March 23 - Sun March 24 Corolla, NC 27927 US Directions

Aid Station Chart

As we continue to grow Blackbeard’s Revenge, we have worked closely with our athletes and other events to improve our aid stations. In 2024 we will be reducing the number of manned aid stations but drastically increasing the offerings at each of those stations. The unmanned aid stations will have water, tailwind hydration, and huma gels. The manned aid stations will have a combination of foods from different nutritional groups - ie. fruit, salty, fiber, sugar, substantive caleries, etc - as well as water, tailwind hydration, and huma gels. Later in the race, easy to digest hot foods such as broth will be at every aid station. Our aid station chart will be posted at least 8 months prior to the race for athletes to review and make suggestions. Aid station menus will be finalized 4 months before the race.

An example of an aid staion menu: water, tailwind, coke, ginger ale, broth, sandwhiches (meat and vegan), gummy bears, pickles, salt tablets, huma gels.

Due to the nature and location of our aid stations, some options for food are not available for this race. This is a point-to-point race with each aid station in a unique locations - many of which are remote and sandy/windy. We are not able to have one giant aid station with tons of food and drink options like many looped ultra courses.  Athletes who have run with us before have requested more food options be individually packed to cut down on sand blowing in the food and to increase ease of eating on the run. In order to do this, we are limited in the types of food we can provide. Starting this year, the National Park Service has a new rule requiring all food on the course to be prepared by a certified cook in an industrial kitchen. Since our course runs through the National Seashore, we are working with the NPS to decide what this means for preping and serving aid station foods from PB&J to the finish line breakfast buffet.

Keep in mind that if you have specific dietary restrictions or allergies not met by the aid station food, plan ahead and make use of your drop bags and crew.
