Dalmatian Run Fest & Dizzy Dalmatian 101

Sat/Sun/Mon, February 15-17, 2025 (President's Day weekend)

Adaptive Athletes and Athletes With Disabilities (AWD)

The Dalmatian Run Fest allows handcycles, push-rim wheelchairs and racing push-chairs in all of our events. We will also accommodate runners who use Guide Runners in accordance with USATF guidelines.

*** GENERAL INFORMATION ***

Accessible Restrooms
Dalmatian Run Fest will provide 2 accessible port-o-lets per loop: (1) at the start/finish and (1) at the Old Boat Ramp

Course:

- Surface: Mostly paved; the gravel sections are primarily small gravel; the start/finish has some larger gravel and may have some ruts.
- Elevation: A few short, steep bridges. The start/finish is at the highest point of the course, approximately 85 feet above water level;  we change directions each day so we do the long climb to the dam on Sat/Mon, and the steep climb to the dam on  Sunday.
- Navigability:  the bridges have fold-down safety bollards in the center which makes them tricky to navigate; the Far-Aid out-n-back is narrower than the rest of the course (standard sidewalk width);
- Turns: The turn-around at Far-Aid out-and-back is 180* and narrow but with good shoulders; there are also 2 90* turns on the course.

Cut-offs
All athletes need to be able to complete the race within the cut-off times. As long as you start your last lap before 5PM, someone on the RD team will wait for you and give you your medal and an official finish time. BUT there may no longer be any support at the Aid Stations, and you may be asked to sign an additional waiver and take a light with you.

Parking
The parking lot is very steeply sloped, so we reserve special parking for our adaptive athletes at the start/finish line. We'll send the parking map and parking permit about a week before the race.

Safety Precautions
We enforce the standard safety precautions, including but not limited to:
     • Riders need to wear seatbelts
     • Handcycle and push-rim athletes must wear a protective helmet at all times when the participant is on the racecourse.
     • Handcycles and push-rim wheelchairs need to have a high-vis flag or blinking red rear light; both is preferred

Start Time
Handcycles, push-rim wheelchairs, and push-chairs will start 5 minutes earlier than the runners; results will be based on chip-time.
