Team LRC
Swans are gregarious creatures that gather in groups. They don’t all look the same, but they thrive together — noisy, social, protective, and always more confident as a team (yes - that's one name for a group of swans!) than alone.
Runners aren’t much different. Every pace, every distance, every background, every ability — we’re at our best when we show up together. And this year, we’re trying something new: taking that LRC camaraderie on the road.
We’re inviting runners to join Team LRC for a few team events outside Lakeland: St. Pete Run Fest (5k, 10k, or Half Marathon), Celebration (Half Marathon or Marathon), and the Polk Senior Games Track Meet (100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, or 1500 m).
Each event offers something special:
• St. Pete Run Fest aligns perfectly with our Distance Program and doesn’t conflict with LRC programs — so our volunteers can be part of the fun too!
• Celebration is a perfect next‑step goal after the Distance Program: 10k runners stretching to a half, half marathoners stretching to a full, or anyone wanting to train for a stronger race.
• Polk Senior Games is a chance to celebrate anyone turning 50+ in 2027 and cheer for anyone trying (or returning to) track events.
You don’t have to commit to racing yet. Just sign up as “interested in Team LRC,” and choose the events you want to be part of. This will help us connect people with similar goals so we can help find training buddies, accountability partners, or even a training plan. Mostly, it helps us create more chances to have fun together.
Because swans don’t fly solo — and neither do we. Let’s show up as Team LRC 🧡💛🩵🦢.
We are leveraging the volunteer signup functionality to collect names.
You are NOT signing up to volunteer for anything.
It simply gives us an easier way to connect with you based on your choice of event(s).
