The Medical Tent is staffed by Licensed EMTs. It is located in front of the Parking Structure facing the Pool building. There will also be multiple EMTs on bikes patrolling the Bike course.
If an athlete is not feeling well on race morning, we strongly advise that they not start the event.
If the athlete starts to feel unwell at any point during race day, we urge them to seek help from one of the volunteers rather than continue.

Set up Transition
The Transition Area is the place where all an athlete’s equipment is stored. The athlete passes through the Transition Area twice during the event: T1 is Swim (or Run) to Bike and T2 is Bike to Run.
To get into transition, you must have:
- Bike & Helmet stickers applied to your bike and helmet
- Body marking
- Either a bib (for the athlete) or a wristband (for an accompanying adult)
There will be a table and trashcan before you get to the Transition entrance to help apply the stickers for those who haven’t done it the night before.
Every athlete has a spot in the Transition Area (organized by age-group) where their bike, helmet, shoes/socks, shirt, shorts, towel, and other essentials are located. This area is set up BEFORE the race starts. Ask a volunteer, if you aren’t sure where to put your bike and gear.
Bikes without kickstands will be hung from racks. The athlete’s racing gear goes under the rack to the side of the bike.
Bikes with kickstands will have a chalked box to put their bike and race gear into.
Once your transition is set up, proceed to the Pool. Arrive around 20 minutes before your wave start time
Finish Line
At the finish line, a professional photographer will take a picture of the athlete. A web version of this photo can be downloaded for free.
Volunteers will remove the athlete’s timing chip and collect the lap counters. The athlete will also receive a medal and a bottle of water and exit into the Athlete Food and Expo area.
There is a rule that only the athlete may pass through the finish arch. However, for the 6 & Under, if the athlete wants their parent to finish with them, we will allow it.
Timing
Athletes 7 & up get a timing chip.
If the athlete is doing the Super-Sprint or the Kids Triathlon, they get points in both the Bay Area Kids Tri Series and the USAT NorCal Youth series
If the athlete is doing the Kids Duathlon, they will get points in the USAT NorCal Youth Series
Athletes 6 & under will not be timed because they get parental assistance
Timed athletes can accept no outside help. Only volunteers and officials can help
Live results are available; Corrections to timing can be submitted on-site
The url for results will be available at the event
Athlete Food & Expo
The Expo is out in the open so wear sunscreen and hydrate appropriately. Sunscreen and hand sanitizer are available in the Expo area. There will be misters and a roof to hide under if you get really hot.
FOOD
We will have food products at the finish line area that contain nut products. If your child has any food allergies, please monitor what they eat.
We are sorry but food is for athletes only. There will be water available so everyone stays hydrated.
There will also be a Shave Ice truck, Kona Ice. Anyone can purchase a shave ice but athletes will be given a coupon for a free small Kona Ice.
ENTERTAINMENT
The Expo will have
- The Inspiration Station with
- Two crafts
- Activity Book and Paper for Signs
- Face painting

- Vendor tents with games and giveaways
The Expo is for everyone to enjoy during any downtime you may experience and after your racer(s) are done.
AWARDS
For the Super-Sprint, awards are given for the TOP 3 boys and girls in each age group.
For the Kids Triathlon, awards are handed out to the TOP 5 boys and girls in EVERY AGE!!
For the Kids Duathlon, awards are handed out to the TOP 3 boys and girls in each age group.
The schedule lists the tentative times for awards but PLEASE listen for announcements in case we have to adjust the award start time for your age group.
If you must leave before the award ceremony, it is possible to pick up the athlete’s award before you go.
Leaving - Packing Up
Parents have to have a wristband to access the transition area to pack up. No wristband, no access.
Adults/Athletes will not be allowed to remove a bike from the Transition Area without showing the volunteers that the race number on the bike matches the race number on the athlete or bib. This is to prevent inadvertent removal of the wrong bike.
When in the Transition Area watch out for those who may still be racing.
Please be considerate of the racers.
