How to Add a Charity Partner
Once donations are enabled, you can add one or multiple charity partners by going to Donations >> Charity Partners.
When adding a charity partner, you are required to input a charity name. You have the option to add a logo, URL, charity description, and custom messages for the charity.
There are number of settings that you can make unique to each charity partner that are displayed in checkboxes when adding a new charity partner.
If set up with direct charity payment (below), allow the charity to enter offline donations for your race. - This setting allows the charity to manually input donations they received offline from this run/walk/ride's participants.
Do not accept donations on RunSignup for this charity. Instead, this charity will link to the Charity URL listed above. - When you input a Charity URL at the top of this page, participants will be directed to this URL when they attempt to donate to the charity. This will allow the charities to be displayed on the race website and within the registration process while accepting donations through their own platform.
Hide charity from public.- This setting will prevent future donations from being made to this charity. This may be useful if a charity partner drops out after donations have already been made to them. In this case, the donations that have already been made will still go to the charity.
Only show for specific events. - When checking this box, a list of events for that particular run/walk/ride will appear, and you can enable the events for which you would like to allow registrants to make donations to this specific charity. If this box is checked, the option to donate to this charity will only appear in the registration for these selected events.
Direct Payment
When setting up charity partners, you have the option to set up Direct Payment. At the bottom of the Add a Charity Partner page, you can fill out the information to set up direct payment to the charity partner for each donation made to that charity.
You will be asked to fill out the Charity Contact Name and Email on this page. If an email is provided, the charity contact will be sent instructions to claim their charity and set up their payment information.
Note: If the charity has not setup their payment account prior to donations being made to that charity, the donations will still be made to your run/walk/ride. Be sure to notify the charity contact that they will be receiving instructions on how to set up their direct payment account, and double check your donations reports to see if you owe the charity for donations that were sent to your run/walk/ride.
After adding charity partners, additional settings will display when you go to Donations >> Charity Partners.
Charity Partner Settings
Once charity partners have been added, the Charity Partner page will display your charity partners at the top. From here you can edit and delete any of the charity partner information that was previously input. You can also add a new charity partner in this section.
Below, you will find Charity Partner Settings. These settings will apply to all charity partners, rather than the partners individually. They focus on which charity partners will display on the donation and registration pages.
Note: These settings can contradict some of the settings implemented when adding your specific charity partners. Be sure to test registration and donations after checking these boxes to ensure you have set them up the way you wanted.
Charity Display: Show charity on donation page even if only one charity is set up. - By default, if only one charity is set up, it will not display the name of the charity in the donation section of registration or on the donation page when someone goes to donate. Instead, it will say the run/walk/ride name. When this box is checked, the charity name will display on these pages even when there is only one charity and the donor does not have to choose between multiple.
“Top Charities” Menu Item Placement - This option allows you to choose where you would like to display the “Top Charities” menu item. You can pick if you would like to display it as its own menu item, display it as a sub-menu item under the “Donate” menu item, or hide it from the menu all together.
At the bottom of this page, you will be able to add a donation checkbox at checkout and change the custom wording for “charity” on your race page.
