Everyone joins the NW Kidney Kids family for different reasons—but we all share a common thread: hope.
For our family, our ‘kidney kid’ lost all kidney function after a battle with E. coli/HUS when she was two. Our world felt like it was closing in. I feared for Helen’s future—would she ever have the chance at a ‘normal’ life? In 2014, almost a year after her diagnosis, we attended our first NWKK family camp. To say it changed everything is an understatement. Her challenges didn’t go away, but we finally had hope. We found a team of people who understood, and suddenly, our future felt a lot brighter.
