All races will be held primarily within three beautiful Winnebago County Forest Preserves; Kishwaukee, Blackhawk Springs and Espenschied. Much of the half marathon is on trails ranging from grassy double-track to twisting and technical single-track. The remainder is on paved roads and paths. The 5k Run/Walk utilizes a mix of paved and gravel. The 3K Run/Walk (youth only) utilizes paved roads. Both races traverse a stretch of private property that is only open to registered racers on the day of the race. Scenic, well marked and with plenty of aid stations, these three events are ideal for first timers, but can also be a challenging race for experienced trail runners. Both courses will be supported and remain open for four hours, 8 AM to noon.
Some portions of the race may be very muddy due to weather conditions in the days leading up to the race. If access to Espenschied F.P. is not possible due to high water levels, an alternate shortened course for the half marathon will be used.

ALWAYS REMEMBER! - - NEVER FORGET!
Gold Star Mission - Virtual Run for the Fallen

We are offering the Gold Star Mission Run for the Fallen as a virtual race for those that are unable to attend in person but still want to support the cause. Please know that the GSM Run for the Fallen is a significant fundraiser for the Gold Star Mission scholarship fund. A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked), at your own pace, from any location you choose, and is timed by you. Ruck, walk, run, jog, indoors on a track or treadmill or outside in the neighborhood or a park. A virtual race is the best way to get comfortable moving to your own beat and gaining confidence in your strength and endurance! Choose your distance and start moving! It is a great way to be competitive with your family, friends, or co-workers while not traveling to a race. Run on your own or run within the guidelines of social distancing in a very small group. Please follow community guidelines and orders when completing this virtual race. This is a great way to motivate each other and hold each other accountable. MOST IMPORTANT -- we need to remember and honor our fallen military.
