There will be communal water bowls at different locations along the route. You may bring your own portable water bowl.

MY FRIENDS WOULD LIKE TO WALK WITH ME AND MY DOG, DO THEY HAVE TO REGISTER?
Only the dogs need to register. People may accompany the dog on the walk without registering for the dog walk. Only registered dogs will get a dog T-shirt and goodie bag.

WHAT IF I'M CONCERNED MY DOG CANNOT TOLERATE THE WALK?
If you have a pet breed with you that cannot tolerate this kind of exertion, please consider just enjoying the festivities with your dog.

WILL THERE BE MANY BIG DOGS ON THE WALK?
There may be many large dogs at the walk. Carry your tiny dog or bring a pet stroller to keep your dog safe.

WHAT IF I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN WHO WANT TO INTERACT WITH THE DOGS?
Parents, please educate your children on how to approach a dog. Please review safe dog greeting behaviors with your children before attending the Firecracker events. Remind your child to always ask the owner’s permission to pet an animal, allow the pet to sniff their hands and then they should gently pet the animal’s chest, chin or back (not the top of its head), speaking calmly and quietly to the pet. Children should never jump on a dog, grab it from behind or scream. If a dog is restless and excited and won’t sit for the owner, walk away and do not allow your child to interact with the dog. Sometimes the most well-behaved pets can be startled and react badly.
