Walk as far as you’d like! There’s no required distance—you can enjoy a leisurely stroll or go for a more challenging trek. It’s all about participating and supporting the cause.

Not at all! We love seeing Weimaraners at the event. Participants are welcome to walk with any dog breed. You can even join without a furry friend! You can walk in memory of a beloved pet or human. Walkers of all kinds are invited to join the fun and support this great cause.

Yes, all participants must register to join the Walk for Weims. Your registration fee helps support the participating Weimaraner rescues. 

Registration is quick and easy! Beginning February 13, 2027, visit our registration page and complete the online registration form. You’ll choose the participating Weimaraner rescue you’d like to support and select an organized local walk or virtual participation.

Once registered, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your event information and access to your personal fundraising page. Fundraising is completely optional. Whether you raise funds, join a local walk, or walk your own sidewalk, you’re part of the Walk for Weims national pack.

When you register for Walk for Weims, the system automatically creates a personal fundraising page for you.

But here’s the important part: Fundraising is completely optional.

Walk for Weims is about celebrating Weimaraners and showing up for Weimaraner rescue. Whether that means raising funds, spreading awareness, logging miles in WoofTrax, organizing a meetup, or simply walking with your Grey Ghost on National Weimaraner Day.

The fundraising page is simply a built-in tool that makes it easy if you choose to use it. Some walkers love sharing their page with friends and family. Others prefer to participate without asking for donations.

There is no minimum fundraising requirement.

Many participants are surprised at how willing friends and family are to support rescue when given the opportunity.

Walk for Weims supports participating rescues in two ways.

Fundraising donations go directly to rescue. When you register, you’ll select the participating Weimaraner rescue you want to support. Donations made through your personal fundraising page are paid directly to that rescue through RunSignUp.

Registration fees and sponsorship funds support our shared rescue fund. After applicable event expenses are deducted, the remaining funds are distributed among participating rescues. The top fundraising rescue receives 50% of the available funds, and the remaining 50% is divided equally among the other participating rescues.

This structure allows walkers to directly support the rescue they choose while also helping Walk for Weims create additional financial support for the broader rescue community.

Walk for Weims registration and tracked fundraising are handled online through RunSignUp. This allows us to keep registration and fundraising records accurate while minimizing administrative work for our participating rescues.

If you prefer to donate by check, you’re welcome to send your donation directly to a participating Weimaraner rescue. Please note that donations made outside of RunSignUp will support the rescue directly but will not be included in Walk for Weims fundraising totals.
