Volunteer with Walk for Weims

Walk for Weims is built by Weim people, for Weim people, with one shared mission: celebrate the breed, support rescue, and grow a community that can make a difference for Weimaraners nationwide.

Whether you want to bring Weim lovers together in your hometown, help our Rescue Partners stay connected, share the Walk with more people, or lend your skills behind the scenes, there’s room in the pack for you.

We’re 100% volunteer-run, so every person who lends a hand helps Walk for Weims reach farther and do more for rescue.

National Trail Leader Coordinator

Help us support the people bringing Walk for Weims to communities across the country.

• Serve as a friendly, consistent point of contact for Trail Leaders.
• Help welcome and orient new Trail Leaders and connect them with Walk for Weims resources.
• Answer routine questions and help keep important information flowing between Trail Leaders and the national Walk.
• Help identify where a Trail Leader may need extra support or where a co-leader could help.
• Encourage Trail Leaders to share photos, stories, and lessons from their local walks.

Location: Remote
Ideal for: An organized, encouraging Weim person who enjoys helping other volunteers succeed and is comfortable communicating by email and online.
Time commitment: Varies throughout the season, with the greatest activity leading up to Walk Day.

Trail Leaders

Bring the national Walk for Weims pack to your own community.

• Host or co-host an organized Walk for Weims in your city or region.
• Choose an appropriate location and start time.
• Help spread the word and grow your local pack.
• Welcome walkers on Walk Day and help create a fun, simple community experience.
• Share a few photos and highlights with Walk for Weims afterward.

You don’t need to be a professional event planner, and your walk doesn’t need to be big or elaborate. We provide resources and guidance to help make Trail Leadership manageable and fun.

Location: Your community
Ideal for: Weim lovers, rescue volunteers, breed-club members, or anyone who enjoys bringing people together. Co-leaders are welcome!
Time commitment: Flexible, with most activity happening closer to Walk Day.

Rescue Liaison Coordinator

Help keep Walk for Weims and our participating Rescue Partners connected throughout the season.

• Serve as a consistent point of contact for participating rescues.
• Help share important updates, deadlines, resources, and event information.
• Answer routine questions and help make rescue participation as easy and low-burden as possible.
• Help make sure Rescue Partners have the information they need to participate successfully.

Location: Remote
Ideal for: Someone familiar with rescue who communicates well, stays organized, and understands the demands placed on rescue volunteers.
Time commitment: Approximately 1 hour per week during the active Walk season.

Social Media Team

Help more Weim people discover Walk for Weims and the rescue mission behind it.

• Share W4W content in appropriate Weimaraner, dog, and community spaces.
• Help identify great community, rescue, and participant stories.
• Assist with social graphics, short-form video, captions, or content ideas based on your interests and skills.
• Help us celebrate the breed, spotlight rescue, and grow the national pack.

Location: Remote
Ideal for: Social-media-savvy Weim lovers, content creators, designers, writers, or people who simply know where the Weim community hangs out online.
Time commitment: Flexible and based on the type of help you’d like to provide.

Raffle for Rescues Coordinator

Help turn donated prizes into a little extra fun for walkers while building relationships with businesses, artists, and supporters of the Weimaraner community.

• Reach out to appropriate businesses, artists, and potential donors for raffle contributions.
• Keep donor information and prize details organized.
• Thank participating donors.
• After the drawing, help connect winners with donors when prizes are being shipped directly.

Location: Remote
Ideal for: Someone who enjoys outreach, relationship-building, and asking businesses or artists to support a good cause.
Time commitment: A few hours per week during active raffle outreach, plus follow-up after Walk Day.
