Simple Training Plan

You do not need to be a marathoner. You just need to start.

Beginner Plan (4 Weeks Out):

Week 1: Walk 1 mile, 3 days
Week 2: Walk 1.5 miles, 3 days
Week 3: Walk 2 miles, 3 days
Week 4: Celebrate on Walk Day

Tips:

• Start slow and increase gradually
• Hydrate you and your Weim
• Check paws after longer walks
• Warm up with 2–3 minutes of easy walking

Consistency beats intensity.

Fundraising Made Simple

You do not need 100 donors. You need momentum.

Start here:

• Set a personal goal (suggested: $150–$250)
• Make the first donation yourself
• Ask 5 people directly

“I’m walking in Walk for Weims on April 12 for Weimaraner rescue. Even $10 helps provide medical care and foster support. Would you consider donating to my page?”

Pro Tip: People are far more likely to donate when you ask them personally instead of posting a generic link.

Want to organize a meetup?

All you need:

• A safe public location
• A start time
• A few flyers to share locally
• Someone to take photos

Email us at walkforweims@gmail.com if you’d like to help coordinate a local walk in your city.

If a walk pops up near you after you register as virtual, you can join it. No need to register again.

Walk for Weims is one day. Rescue impact is year-round!

How to Submit Your Miles

Use an app to track your miles, like WoofTrax.. After your walk, come back to the website and navigate to your RunSignup profile by selecting the Profile Icon at the top right hand corner of the screen. 

Under your Upcoming Events > Select Submit Virtual Results > Enter your miles walked and hit Submit Activity

All miles must be entered into your RunSignup profile before 11:59pm CT on Monday, 4/13/2026. The walker will the most miles with be announced the following week. 

Share Your Walk Online

After the big day, jump online and share how you celebrated National Weimaraner Day with your new tribe. Share on social media and tag @walkforweims so we can find you and you can upload photos to the race via your profile.
