Basic Relay Team Rules:
- Team Size: 2 – 6 People
- Relay “leg” distance is up to the team, but exchanges must be done at an exchange zone only (see aid station chart for exchange locations)
- Runners do not have to run an equal number of legs or distances.
- Awards go to: 1st Overall Male team, 1st OA Female team, 1st OA Mixed team (at least 2 females on each mixed team, if more than 3 members). All finishers receive medals.
- All general athlete rules and gear requirements apply to relay team participants.
- Each relay team must have a set of the required gear for the active runner. It's up to the relay team to coordinate how the runner gets that gear, whether that's sharing or asking each runner to have their own required gear. Please note the required gear is required between sunset and sunrise as well as during moderate to heavy rainfall.
- Each team must provide their own support vehicle, only one vehicle per relay team.
- Team vehicle must have the team’s name and bib number clearly visible on the vehicle at all times and can be no bigger than a 12 passenger van.
- Relay team “camping” or hanging out for long times at exchange zones is not allowed. There is limited space at exchange zones, please plan accordingly.
- Food at aid stations if for the team member who is currently running, not team members who are waiting for their handoff.
All relay participants must register separately.
Relay teams receive one bib with a timing chip and bib belt that is passed at relay exchanges. Each relay team member also receives a separate bib you must wear so we can identify you and find your information in the event of an emergency.
One person can pick up the full team's bibs, etc. at packet pickup if desired.

Relay Teams are welcome to join the Crew meeting where we'll talk more about following the alternate driving route, aid station accessibility, and parking at aid stations. We won't go into detail about the alternate driving route in the main mandatory athlete meetings. More details are at the link below.
