When my older son was 1 year old (that was 21 years ago), I saw a picture of myself and didn’t recognize the person in the picture. I had never been active and worked long hours behind a desk and the weight had slowly crept on. For the next five years, I focused mostly on my diet and then exercise to the point where I lost 100 pounds. I’m happy to say that more than 15 years later, I’ve kept most of it off.
I hate exercise for the sake of exercise, but I enjoy doing activities with friends. So, whether it is a live exercise class at Max at 5 AM, running a few miles with a friend, running a 10K with 40,000 other people in the streets of Mumbai, rowing in a crew boat with 8 others on Carnegie Lake, it is the camaraderie of the experience which motivates me.
