Aashna Sibal - Team Sibal
My name is Aashna Sibal and I am a rising senior at Hillsborough High School. Throughout my life, I have always made sure to incorporate fitness into my daily life. During my elementary school years, I swam and played various sports such as soccer and tennis. For the past nine years, I have learned classical Indian dance and competed on a Bollywood dance team. When I entered my teen years, I became an assistant teacher to serve as a positive role model for younger students and to motivate them to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives as well. In the past few months, I have found ways to stay active while adjusting to our “new normal” by biking, hiking, or walking everyday.
As a student in Hillsborough, one program that I particularly enjoyed participating in was the “Hoops for Heart” annual fundraiser run by the American Heart Association. I recall learning about the dangers of heart disease and how prevalent it is in our country. Learning this at a young age made me extremely aware and passionate about this issue to help reduce its frequency in our country. As a youth ambassador, I hope to spread awareness about heart disease and pass along the important information I’ve learned over the years to others so that they too can maintain a healthy lifestyle
