Course

 

Marathon Course (Click to see the Marathon course in motion)

 
Marathon runners will start their race heading west from the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center. The first 3 miles will run on paved county and neighborhood roads before hitting Historic US 40. Runners/Walkers will then spend about 2 miles on US 40, running through downtown Plainfield. Mile 9 will bring racers through Franklin Park, then racers will cross an iron bridge where they will enter the paved Vandalia Trail. The tree lined Vandalia Trail will bring shade, a stroll past a pond, then run through a tunnel bridge below US 40. Racers will exit the Vandalia Trail by crossing another historic iron bridge and hit road again. The 12th mile will bring racer past the Hendricks County 911 Dispatch Center. Mile 15 will bring a real treat as runners/walkers will actually run THROUGH the bay of Plainfield Fire Territory's Station 121. The next miles of the course will include crossing underneath 267 via tunnel bridge, Hummel Park and it's shaded paved trails and ponds, neighborhood streets lined with cheering spectators, before running past the Plainfield Police Department at mile 24. From there you'll hit a nice downhill on the shady paved trails bringing you into the Al & Jan Barker Park. The last mile will bring you back onto the beautiful shady Vandalia Trail heading back to the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center.

The Marathon course is relatively flat with rolling hills.

Marathoners will choose a team to "back" during registration: Police, 911, or Fire. They will receive the shirt of the team they choose to back.
