Nine years ago, I ran the Chicago Marathon to fundraise for Urban Initiatives and here I go again (just a shorter distance this time)! I’m excited to be running the Race Against Gun Violence as a fundraiser for UI. UI’s mission is to empower Chicago’s youth to become community leaders through academic success, healthy living, and social-emotional learning, by leveraging the power of sport & play. Typically, each spring, the Associate Board participates in the Bus Campaign, which is a fundraiser that supports paying for student transportation to and from soccer games to and from various neighborhoods in Chicago.
As someone who grew up playing soccer, I know firsthand the impact that athletics has had on me and I believe every child deserves to experience the powerful impact of supportive teammates, accessible mentors, and safe environments to play.
Thank you for supporting a cause and an organization that continues to mean so much to me and to over 50,000 students around Chicago!
