A word on the upcoming season:
We hope you are well and staying safe and healthy in these challenging times. It's been quite a roller coaster these past few months with the current public health crisis of coronavirus/COVID-19.
Due to the current state of Covid19 in Houston and Harris County, we will start our season virtually in mid-August. We will not meet to run in person, in groups, for quite a while. We hope to be able to meet in person by late September, but it will depend on current guidance on safe and healthy group gatherings.
We are following any guidance from the City, County and Road Runner Clubs of America (RRCA) and are putting measures in place that will allow us to run together safely and comfortably. You can see what are current plans are on our Covid 19 Safety page on this website.
While we are cautiously optimistic that we can run our season in full, and are moving forward with plans to do so, the upcoming season may look different than in years past. Some changes to ensure safety may include, and may not be limited to:
--Virtual runs/Run on your own/Individual workouts
--Track and Hills/Tempo workouts offered at staggered times to alleviate space issues at Memorial Park track and Eleanor Tinsley Park/Buffalo Bayou Park
--Smaller pace groups/sub-groups with multiple assistant coaches or group leaders
--Staggered long run start times
--Expanded meeting place at Memorial Park to help practice social distancing
--Additional long run option on Sundays (to run the day that suits you best)
--Reduced or limited SAG (to prevent exposure)
--Group runs from a different location in Memorial Park, or location other than Memorial Park
--Reduced or small-gathering social events/virtual seminars
If the season must be cancelled due to Covid19 public health reasons, refunds are available for anyone who registered. Any refunds would be for the season registration fee only, not any ancillary service fees.
To continue following local health and safety measures, this summer RHC is not sponsoring or supporting any club runs, gatherings, events or activities that require meeting in groups. This will be until we expect our season to start.
But we have a number of together-on-our-own activities planned, all posted to our group’s Facebook page, Instagram channel and Twitter account! These include solo track workouts, solo tempo workouts, virtual runs and races, training tips and running news. Check them out!
In the meantime, we encourage you to run! You may be feeling a little down, a bit stressed, and a lot unmotivated. As you know, running and exercise are great ways to alleviate some of the stress and anxiety in our lives now. When you do run, we ask that you follow the City and County guidelines on restrictions for gatherings and proximity to others, take precautions, be good health stewards, and look out for one another. Please be safe out there!
Once restrictions are lifted or eased, and we feel confident that we can gather safely, we will start out season. Registered members will soon start to receive emails about the season, and guests will be able to "try us out" for a Saturday group run before deciding to register and join for the season.

Marathon and Half Marathon training starts in August 8, 2020, and runs through January 17, 2021. Our meeting place is Memorial Park.
We’re a group of people who share an interest in the activities associated with running. Seasonal training and personalized coaching are available to runners of all levels, as well as to those who would like to become runners. We welcome beginners to advanced runners! We take you step-by-step from starting our training program to finishing a marathon or half-marathon. Have fun, learn about running culture, join the running community, and run with others who have the same goals. Our programs include organized and supported long runs, track sessions, hill sessions, seminars, discounts to local running events, and monthly social gatherings!
98% of our members running the Houston Marathon of Half-Marathon finished! Many with PR's!
