Kari - 2:15 Half-Marathon Coach



Hi Everyone!  Welcome to RHC and the 2:15 pace, half marathon group!  This will be my first year as Coach after two years of assistant coaching. I look forward to getting to know you all through our many miles to come!  

I wasn’t always a fan of running... I grew up as a competitive swimmer from the age of 4 up until I graduated college.  The only time my college swim coach would have us “run” was during our winter training trip and I remember glaring at him every lap.  Once swimming stopped, I continued to eat like a swimmer and put on quite a bit of weight.  I moved to Hawaii after college and continued to pack on the extra pounds, as many of the events there revolved around food.  In order to get back on track, I began to "run".  I started with 1/4 of a mile and slowly began building my mileage each week.  I ran my first marathon in Honolulu, in 2008 finishing 6 hours and 7 minutes. 

I currently enjoy the half marathon distance.  Each year I have my routine with my few favorite runs.  I began doing triathlons (sprint, olympic, and half iron man) in 2016. I took a step back from them last year, but am signed up again for a smaller one on October 1st.
