August 4 (Saturday) - Season starts! Registered club and training program members meet at Memorial Park at 7:00 AM for our first group run! 3 miles in the park, easy pace, followed by orientation.
August 11 (Saturday) - optional 5k race, the Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer 5k in downtown Houston! If you've never run a timed race before, or want to test your summer running mettle, this is the place! Or run an easy 3-4 miles on your own.
August 12 (Sunday) - New member welcome and orientation, 3:00 - 5:00 PM, place TBA. A fun meeting to tell you all about RHC, the upcoming season, intro to the coaches, background on RHC, how the season will run, running tips, gear tips, Q&A session, etc. New member orientation from 3:00 - 4:00 PM, all RHC members welcome and encouraged to come 4:00 - 5:00 PM (or later). Or if you want a refresher, come for the whole thing!
August 18 (Saturday) - first formal group run! 5 miles for marathon, 4 miles for half-marathon! You will run with your pace group for 5 miles from Memorial Park. Afterward, join HARRA's Party in the Park!
August 25 (Saturday) - group run, 5 miles for marathon, 4 miles for half-marathon. Meet at Memorial Park, run with your pace group, and return to the park for re-hashing how the run went!
September 1 (Saturday) - group run, 6 mies for marathon, 5 miles for half-marathon. Meet at Memorial Park, run with your pace group, and back back to the park for shirt and hat distribution!
September 4 (Tuesday) and September 6 (Thursday) - Track and Hills sessions start! Come train with your fellow teammates and a coach and get a little sweaty and breathy as you turn on the speed and power in these interval workouts. Track is every Tuesday through December, 5:30 AM or 6:30 PM at the Memorial Park track. Hills are every Thursday through December, 5:30 AM at Eleanor Tinsley Park or 6:30 PM at Sports Park.
September 8 (Saturday) - group run, 6 miles for marathon, 5 miles, for half-marathon. Meet at Memorial Park, run with your pace group, followed by our first seminar--Nutrition for Runners! Hear from Catherine Krupa, MS, RD, CSSD, LD, of Advice for Eating on how to fuel for your season and your race. She is an avid and accomplished runner herself and knows of what she speaks!
September 18 (Tuesday) - RHC Happy Hour at Canyon Creek. Come have a cold one with your running buddies and learn all about Houston running. 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Come by after Tuesday PM track workout--Canyon Creek is only a 10-minute walk from the Memorial Park track!
